Federal Indictment Jody Skipper

Loudon County Sheriff Tim Guider announces the Federal indictment of Mr. Jody Conley Skipper of 110 Edgewood Drive Sweetwater. Mr. Skipper was charged with Title 18 U.S Code 922-G1 Felon in possession of

a firearm. Sheriff Guider advised the Indictment is a result of an investigation of a stolen firearm from the residence of Mr. Samuel Thompson of Loudon.

On September 6, 2008 Deputy Ron Deland of the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mr. Skipper following a brief pursuit that started in Loudon County and ended just inside Monroe County after Mr. Skipper wrecked his vehicle. Inside the vehicle were a Remington 700 Rifle and a Viper Cross Bow. These items were discovered stolen from Mr. Thompson during a Burglary at his residence. At the time Mr. Skipper could only be charged with the theft of the items and not the burglary. However Detective Patrick Upton obtained three (3) DNA blood samples from inside the Thompson residence that were left behind by the burglary suspect. Those DNA samples were collected and Mr. Skipper’s DNA Buccal Swabs were collected after a search warrant was obtained by Detective Upton. Those samples were sent to the TBI Crime Lab and they matched all three (3) DNA swabs taken at the residence as belonging to Jody Skipper. Mr. Skipper was then charged with a Loudon County Grand Jury Indictment for Aggravated Burglary. Detective Upton then met with Agent Wade Moore of ATF and the case was presented to the Federal Grand Jury today and resulted in the Indictment. This charge carries a penalty of up to ten (10) years.

Sheriff Guider would like to thank the ATF and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for their help.
